The PWDCA supported entry weekend hosted by the Pacific NW Portuguese Water Dog Club on August 23-24th was a huge success! By that we mean lots of dogs, lots of people and lots of smiling faces. The weather was a little warm on Saturday, but rain held off on Sunday until we were finished.

On Saturday, Mount Rainier Working Dog Club held its first "point" show. There were Meet the Breed booths for nearly every working group breed located around the rings. Ours, masterminded – and manned – by Renee Smith was deemed Best Breed Booth. Great job, Renee! Other members also helped man the booth – among them Suzie Aarts and Laird Philbrick, one of our club's founding members. Sunday saw our sweepstakes, with judge Danik Dancause graciously flying in to officiate. A lunch and club drawing wrapped up the event.

Additional Winners:

  • Suzanne Foisie and Savannah (Stargazer's Wheel of Fortune) took home High Scoring PWD in Obedience from the Open A class. They also earned a prize from the Mount Rainier Working Dog Club for High Scoring Dog from the Working Group.
  • Val Tangen took home the only PWD "Q" in the standard classes at the weekend's agility trial.
  • In Junior Showmanship: Hana Marangon was 3rd in her Open Junior Class on Sunday - showing "Willow " - and Sarah Fugman was 1st in her Open Intermediate Class on Sunday, showing "Torrie ".
